History
Established in December 2000, Trafalgar Publications Ltd launched it’s first magazine; Global SMT & Packaging in April 2001. This publication was conceived to address two emerging trends in the electronics manufacturing industry; the globalization of manufacturing and the convergence of SMT assembly with backend packaging technologies. The company grew, initially through minor acquisitions, then by expanding its main brand, Global SMT & Packing into other publications and products around the world. In 2008 Trafalgar followed many of its customers from the electronics assembly field into the fast emerging solar photovoltaic industry. Having established one global brand and the infrastructure to support it, the company embarked upon adding new brands and regional titles. In 2011, Global LED/OLEDs was launched as a quarterly publication. Addressing the electronics assembly industry and the PCB manufacturing industries, this publication set out to educate lighting designers and engineers on the essential differences when manufacturing electronic based luminaries versus electric. Currently, Trafalgar is managing the transition of print based media to digital formats and in particular, is developing the professional video side of its business.Timeline
2000 – Company formed in December. Founding director, Trevor Galbraith. 2001 – Global SMT & Packaging EU/US edition launched in April (4 issues) with supporting website. In October, the magazines “Electronic Production” and “TEST” were acquired from Inside Communications Ltd, a division of Mirror Group Newspapers.- 2002 – Global SMT & Packaging increased to 10 issues per year. Monthly newsletter started for Global SMT & Packaging
- 2003 – Global SMT & Packaging - China launches (4 issues). Held CEMCEX 2003 in Prague, Czech Republic and Gyor, Hungary
- 2004 – Electronic Production and TEST magazines closed. Global SMT & Packaging EU/US increased to monthly, 12 issues; Global SMT & Packaging – China increased to bi-monthly (6 issues). Held CEMCEX events in Prague, Czech Republic; Budapest, Hungary ; Warsaw and Gdansk, Poland

- 2007 – Global SMT & Packaging launches websites and monthly newsletters in China, Japan, Hungary, Mexico and UK/Ireland. Published Show Dailies for Nepcon UK and Productronica. Launched video news channel and made first corporate video
- 2008 – Global SMT & Packaging – Korea launches bi-monthly magazine, website and monthly newsletter. Websites and newsletter launched in South-east Asia. Global Solar Technology launched as bi-monthly international magazine. European Electronics And Reliability (EEARS 2008) launched in Tallin, Estonia in partnership with ITRI
- 2009 – Global SMT & Packaging launched website and monthly newsletter in Brazil. It also launched a monthly Technology Showcase. Global Solar Technology launched website and monthly newsletter
- 2010 – Global SMT & Packaging – SEA launched as bi-monthly magazine. Global Solar Technology – China and Global Solar Technology SEA launched
- 2011 – Global LED/OLEDs launched as digital magazine
- 2012 – Trafalgar Publications Group pvt. Ltd formed in New Delhi, India
- 2013 – Cleaning & Contamination Guide launched
